If you are curious about shooting but don't know how to experience it, just book an introductory course at Sharon Gun Club. You don't have to be a member, you don't need a licence, just shoot the course with us.

After a brief lecture you will handle and shoot the following:

all under the direct, one-on-one supervision of an expert instructor.

The Lecture

Here you find out how to look at the sights, how to keep your finger out of the trigger guard when you are not shooting, how to always keep your firearm pointed in a safe direction, and what to aim at on the target. Nothing complicated.

The .22 Semi-automatic Pistol

This is your basic target pistol. We show you the correct stance and grip on the pistol, how to pick up the pistol, how to put it down, and how to rest the pistol between shots. You learn how to take up the slack on the trigger and then to press against the resistance until you get a "surprise break."

You do a little "dry shooting" (no ammunition) with each firearm until you get what we want from you and then you shoot some "live" ammunition. We load for you each time so as not to complicate things.

Any variations from this with the other firearms are pointed out as you use them.

Making arrangements

Do this by email to Li-Wen Kuo at sgcintro@hotmail.com after you check out the available dates.

We will do one course each Saturday, when available, May through October, commencing at 10:30 am, and we will do a maximum of 4 applicants per course.

The cost is $35.00 per shooter, payable by cheque or in cash at the beginning of the course.

No more than 4 shooters per instructor. It takes an instructor about 2 hours to put a group of 4 through the course. He takes each shooter in turn through the following firearms:

Winter Shooting

It is too cold to stand on the range and wait your turns in the Winter.

We will not conduct the course from November through to the end of April. The course will run on Saturdays (when available) from May through October.
